Ricardo Apparicio was born "Marcio Ricardo Apparicio" in December 1960 in Sao Paulo, Brasil. His father Marcio Apparicio an architect and his mother Maria do Carmo Apparicio a surgical nurse.
His passion for art and photography came on early ages from his father Marcio who was also a painter and an art collector, and his God-father Mario Esteves a passionate photographer, owner of Equifoto a traditional distributor of photographic equipment in Sao Paulo, Brasil.
Graduated from EPA in photography and fine arts, and from FIAM in Marketing Ricardo participated in congresses and seminars where he was invited as a speaker and mediator. In the early 1980's he was invited to participate in an international Photography study program sponsored by Kodak USA.
Passionate for sports he got an opportunity to work on a Brasil vs. Russia volleyball tournament in Sao Paulo, representing PROMOACAO an event and marketing company recently formed by Luciano do Valle, Jose Francisco Leal, and Jose Cocco. Consequently was invited to cover a volleyball game "O GRANDE DESAFIO" held at the MARACANA Stadium where over 80,000 people made history.
After getting hired by PROMOACAO his first campaign was with RAINHA (Alpargatas) "A MARCA OFICIAL DA SELECAO DE VOLEI" utilizing a technic that until then was not used by any sports photographer. Not applying any "flash", utilizing Daylight color film 400 ISO (processed at 800-1600 ISO) and masked during processing, creating movement and "freezing" all advertising and other marketing products.
PROMOACAO then became LUQUI, Luciano do Valle, and Jose Francisco Coelho Leal (Quico), and that changed the way Brasil followed and admired sports. The innovation was such that LUQUI was able to create TV history with an 8hrs sports program at Band Network called "SHOW do ESPORTE"
It became a reference for "amateur" sport all over Brasil with hundreds of projects and events that eternalized athletes such as Adilson"Maguila" Rodrigues, Rui "Chapeu", Copa Pele', Volleyball, Basketball, among many others that were obscure on the
likes of FootVolley and Aerobics.
All photos were rescued from a fire that occurred in 2017. The images will not show the highest quality however they represent part of the history of Brazilian sports.
